Star Theatre announces spring musical auditions
Tickets on Sale for Star Theatre’s 9 to 5: The Musical

The Star Players proudly present their spring show, 9 to 5: The Musical. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, the musical is based on the iconic 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous and thought-provoking with a little romance thrown in.

Pushed to the boiling point, coworkers Violet, Judy and Doralee concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, the three live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While the boss is “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.

Starring in the show are Star Theatre veterans Lori Lavery as Violet and Kristina Pritchard as Doralee, with Hannah Fuller making her debut on the Star’s stage as Judy. Their boss, Franklin Hart, Jr., is portrayed by Andy Lavery, and Violet’s love interest, Joe, is played by Wayne Rowe. Candi Boyd shines as Roz Keith, office snitch. Eric Mosley plays Dwayne, Doralee’s husband, and Mike Webb rounds out the featured roles as Judy’s ex-husband, Dick.

Other title roles include Keitha Voorheis as clueless Missy Hart; Andrew Stauffer as Violet’s laidback son, Josh; Cali Ebert as drunken Margaret; Lindsey North as fired Maria; Abigail Smith as gossip Kathy; Mike Cochran as undeserving Bob; and Mark Murphy as Mr. Tinsworthy.

Pamela Hamlin, Cassie Hoy, Julie Miller, Trey Miller, Sophia Nichols, Reagan Rowe, Jodi Smalley, Henry Smith, Maria Smith dazzle us on stage in song and dance numbers as the ensemble.

Show dates are May 10, 11, 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and May 12 at 2:00 p.m.. Tickets are $15 for nonmembers and $12 to Star Theatre members (based on membership level).
